They were golden cows, all crossing over the breach
They were one thousand sows, that all began to screech

The crows flew high to observe the scene
Of these one thousand golden cows all tumbling into a ravine

It was the end of things that had brought them here
Nothing was so obvious, nothing was so clear
One by one they heaved their bodies off
And flung themselves heftily, springing from the rear

Not even the crows pierced eyes
Could see the bottom
Of the pit cast so black by a despair
Left aside to be forgotten

On the other side
One thousand lions stood in wait
For the end of this absurdity
For the resurrection of the gate

A golden gilded wall, for a moment anyway
A golden rain of death, that had seemed so far away

One by one they said in a tone so bored, dead and dry
